Descending

Ephesians 4:7-14 – 7 but to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore He says:
“When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men.”
(Now this, “He ascended” — what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth?  He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)
And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

There are times in our walk with Christ, it seems as though we are being sent straight into hell or feel as though we are going backwards or descending to a place that is dark or demonic. Some would say it is a season of the “dark night of the soul.”  If we look at Jesus’ life, we can see His ministry started with major power, miracles, and wonders, but it would seem that it led Him down instead of up. It led Him to being mocked, beaten and crucified on a cross.  Even when He died, you would think that He would have gotten to go up into the beautiful heavens, instead of being sent down into the lower parts of the earth.  Yet His descent gave him the authority to bring those that were impossible to save, out of darkness into the marvelous “Light.”  It also enabled Him to have a greater sphere of influence to distribute good gifts to the world, instead to just His hand full of followers.  He basically fulfilled Isaiah 54: 2-3, so that the gifts and power that was within Him would widen and stretch to all nations so that the world could inherit back what God had given Him and man from the beginning of time.

Isaiah 54:2-3 Enlarge the place of your tent, And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; Do not spare; Lengthen your cords, And strengthen your stakes.  For you shall expand to the right and to the left,
And your descendants will inherit the nations, And make the desolate cities inhabited.

When man is in a season of descent, it’s only because God is preparing him to ascend to more authority, and enlarging his sphere of love and influence. He imparts a supernatural “Love” and compassion for those who are trapped in hell and can’t know way get out except through the power and “Love” of God. So, look to the heavens today for you are coming up in newness of life, power, and authority. When you ascend, you will have a driving desire to distribute all of what God has given you to world as Jesus did for us. You will have been transformed into the heavenly nature Jesus. Get ready! The ascent is about to start! Love the world!

    As I read your teaching I realize this, Jesus had to first died on the cross before descending. A matter of fact Jesus was dead before He started His ministry; He carried His cross daily. I believe that in order to descend with the authority to bring those in captivity out of captivity, we first have to die to self. Only then can our descend be as gloriest as the Lord’s. When we die in Him we can love like Him and descend to the lowest parts and set the captives free.
