Proverbs 29:25-26 – The fear of man brings a snare,
But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe. Many seek the ruler’s favor,
But justice for man comes from the Lord.
One of the major stumbling blocks in the Christian walk is the “Fear of Man.” The “Fear of Man” is the counterfeit of the “Fear of the Lord”.
The “Fear of man” is when you dwell and honor more of what people think or say about you more that God. Or you are constantly bowing to the self criticism and condemnation that comes from even your own carnal mind. The thoughts of the “Fear of Man” are twisted truths or false statements about self. It leads man down the path of destruction. In 1 John 3:20 he says even if their own heart condemns them, God is greater than our heart and knows all things.
The “Fear of the Lord” is when man honors and walks according to the thoughts of God in his life. The “Fear of the Lord” is always true, directing man’s character and path in the way of life and freedom.
Example: Psalms 19:9
The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
Proverbs 9:10-11
10 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
11 For by me your days will be multiplied,
And years of life will be added to you.
The only opinion that matters is what God thinks and speaks about you. Live life today and dwell in His thoughts.
