Love Your Who?

Matt 5:43-46 – “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

There are many times in a man’s life, he is under the gun and is truly having to deal with his enemies. Which we think at the time, they are the people that are cursing us or intentionally hurting or causing trouble in our lives. When under the pressure, man’s emotions begin to flare up. He begins to pray for God to extinguish his foe or finds himself complaining to God, asking why God is letting them attack. In this passage God is not only commanding us to love our enemies, but is also unveiling our true nature. For we forget, God doesn’t just love us, he loves the people that are attacking us as well. Once we begin to understand and believe this love abides in God and within us, our attitudes in the way we pray changes. Once our attitude changes, our words are transformed, and what we speak will be peace, forgiveness and blessings toward those that have raised up against us. Once love possess the area of your heart with people that have slandered or reviled you, you no longer see them as enemies, but loved ones who are being tormented and chained in the dungeons of death. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Let love come in the very places you are rightfully angry with a group or person. You will be amazed how God will open your eyes to see them in a different light. Once we are free, so will our “loved ones” (so called enemies) be free. For no one lives unto himself.
Put on Love. It’s who you are.
