Genesis 28:16 “Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, ‘Surely the Lord is in this place, and I wasn’t even aware of it!’”
Jacob was in an uncomfortable place of transition when the Lord opened the heavens for him and spoke to him. He was being obedient to what his father told him to do. It was when he rested during his journey that he received promises from God, saw Him and heard Him. Transition is difficult for most of us and sometimes we feel very alone. Our perspective can change when we are being obedient to something that we know God has told us to do. We can expect our obedience to open a portal of blessing and communication with us and the Lord even in the most difficult place or circumstance.
