Scripture for the Day

Job 1:3 says Job’s possessions were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred female donkeys, and a very large household, so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the East. Job’s life shadowed the life of Jesus Christ. In this scripture Job had great possessions and was the greatest man in the east. Job’s story seems as though Satan strips him of everything. Satan caused infection and pain in Job’s body to the point that he used stones to strip off his own skin to rid of scaps that had formed. Satan thought that if he stripped Job publically, spiritually, physically, and financially he would turn from God. Nevertheless, in the end it caused Job to see God and pray for his brothers. God blessed Job’s latter years more than his beginning. His latter glory was greater than his former.  There is a man name Jesus Christ that possesses great things as well. He is the owner of all things. He is the greatest man in not only the east, but in the universe. Jesus was also publically stripped, beaten, and crucified seeming as though He had lost everything.  He gazed into the face of His Father and prayed for us as well. He laid down His life and took upon Himself judgement, wrath, and sin that we deserved. His life and body was physically stripped. He gave us everything He owned. Including Himself. He rose from the dead with a greater glory than He had in the beginning.  Now the glory of His latter temple is greater than the former. Jesus now has more than what He started out with. He has us! Remember, when you think you are losing it all, gaze into the life of Jesus and see that you are about to gain everything.
