Scripture for the Day

1 Samuel 17:8-11 says Goliath stood and shouted a taunt across to the Israelites. “Why are you all coming out to fight?” he called. “I am the Philistine champion, but you are only the servants of Saul. Choose one man to come down here and fight me! If he kills me, then we will be your slaves. But if I kill him, you will be our slaves! I defy the armies of Israel today! Send me a man who will fight me!” When Saul and the Israelites heard this, they were terrified and deeply shaken.

The first mistake Israel made was listening to the voice of the enemy. Even though Israel knew they were God’s chosen army to rule the earth they still listened to the enemy. Fear gripped them and immobilized the whole company. Reality is that we can still know that we are a chosen priesthood a holy nation to rule in the heavens and the earth with Christ but still be immobilized by the enemy when we listen to his voice. Turn your ears to God! Then you will be the man and woman you are called to be! A Warrior! A Hero! Like Jesus!
