The Rise of Jonah

I was praying on the morning of Rosh Shoshanna in 2012 and was caught up in a vision and saw something like an old ship that seemed to wash upon the southern shores of our country.  As I continued to draw closer it began to move, then it stood upon it’s feet, and what I thought was an old ship was the Prophet Jonah.  His appearance was strange. He looked as though he had just been vomited out of the big fishes’ belly.  He was scarred and had white blotches all over his body, as though he had been bleached. I believe it was from the acidic fluids of the whales’ belly.

Jonah looked intently at the our lands and shouted, “Repent! For the Kingdom of God is at hand!” The authority of God’s words that proceeded out his mouth began to shake the earth. It seemed that even creation stood at attention to the authority of his words.  Jonah began walking straight north through the middle of our nation shouting a message of repentance.  It seemed America had turned from God, yet God was giving our nation a chance to turn back less God come Himself and judge our country.  As Jonah’s words went forth, a great earthquake occurred and it physically caused there to be great chasm between the Midwest and the eastern states.  It was a sign our country had separated itself from God and one another. I saw cities beginning to turn and some were not.  A great division between true believers of Jesus Christ and those that live worldly lives was also occurring, causing there to be riots in the streets. Yet I knew this was all apart of God’s mercy to turn our country back to Christ.

Jesus said in Luke 11:29-30 – “This is an evil generation. It seeks a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah the prophet.

Our country is in the same situation as it was with Jonah and the city of Nineveh.  Both turned from walking in God’s purpose and came under judgment.  Before Jonah spoke to Nineveh, he also had turned and fled from God’s presence.  God hurled a storm in Jonah’s life and Jonah found himself in total darkness in the belly of a great fish.  This is what happens at times when men and women who are called by God choose to turn away.   Storms come to their lives that not only affect them, but those that they are connected with as well.  In the middle of the storm Jonah understood that the men he was with needed to cast him into the sea and disconnect from him, less they too were going to be judged and overcome by the storm of the Lord.

There are times when Godly men walk away from the Lord, He will cause those that are connected to them to reject them, and throw them to that which devours them.  In other words, it seems as though their friends threw them to the wolves, yet was and is the best move that God ever made for them.  It is a move that will bring them back to their senses and back on the road to their destiny.  If you are in this situation, praise the Lord for it! For God is trying to bring you back to the purpose He destined you for.

After three days and three nights of total darkness, and barely breathing from the pressure of the fish’s belly, not counting the pressure from the fish diving down to the depths of the sea, Jonah’s heart began to change.  As darkness was closing down upon him forever, Jonah remembered the Lord. He began to pray and God heard Jonah’s cry. God spoke to the fish and the fish spit him out.  That which God had sent to devour Jonah, became the vehicle that projected him back into his purpose.  God again, spoke to Jonah as though He had never changed His mind about Jonah’s ability, character, or purpose, and said, “Go to Nineveh, that great city and preach the message I tell you.”  Jonah obeyed.

When Jonah arrived in Nineveh, it was evident the city’s heart was in like manner as Jonah’s heart was before God’s great judgment. Yet because Jonah had walked through the process of deliverance, he carried authority and power to deliver and save those that had turned away from God.  When Jonah’s words were spoken from his mouth, they were not without power, they were words spoken from one that had experience in God’s judgment. I believe this is one of the key points of why the people obeyed Jonah’s message. He not only appeared as though he had been through judgment, but also spoke from experience.  A man that has knowledge with experience carries power and authority to change and impart God’s message.

In the South, God is going to rise up a company of people who have been through the process of God’s judgments.  They will boldly carry a message of repentance to our nation, accompanied by the power of the Kingdom of God.   Their appearance will be as to Jonah. They will not be polished or professional. They will be “scarred ones,” but carry power and authority from God.  An awakening will began in the South and spread northward and out into different regions of our country.  Our government will hear of it, and a select of God’s messengers will be given the opportunity to speak before the leaders of our nation.  This giving even the head of our country a chance to turn and be healed from its sin.

Our country is in the same situation as Nineveh.  God called them both, yet have turned from obeying God’s word.  Before Jonah preached to Nineveh, he too, had turned from God and fled from His presence.  Before Jonah had come to a place in his own heart to speak to Nineveh, he had to have an awakening in order for there to be repentance back to the Lord.  America is on the cusp of a great opportunity to awaken back to God. It has slowly turned it’s back on the Lord Jesus Christ and God has now positioned Himself to give our nation a chance to turn before having to release a great and terrible day of the Lord.

I felt this article was relevant for this time, considering Islamic terrorist recently destroyed Jonah’s temple in Iraq.  When the Lord said that we would be given the sign Jonah, he wasn’t kidding.   Even though it is a historical loss, it is truly a sign from God that we must repent back to Christ, for Jesus’ return is approaching. God is slow to anger and abundantly kind and merciful.   The word of God also is clear when it says,

2 Chronicles 7:14-15- My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

This truly shows how much God loves His son’s and daughters, for He is still trying to warn us what we are about to bring upon ourselves because of our own sinful deeds. Even today, let’s individually turn back to God, humble ourselves and pray, maybe God will hear us and heal our land so that not only our lives will be saved but also our country.
