In John 2, the setting is a wedding and Mary makes it known to Jesus that they had run out of wine. Clearly she knew that Jesus was the Son of God and could do all things. If she had not believed this, she would not have mentioned the lack of wine to Him. She expected Jesus to have a solution. Jesus told her that it was not yet time for Him to perform miracles.Mary still believed that He could do it, so she spoke to the servants to do anything He told them. The wedding party needed a miracle even if they were not supposed to have one. Evidently, Mary knew how much Jesus loved humanity, or she wouldn’t have continued to press Him to do it. As the story goes, the Father and Jesus evidently agreed to change the timeline of His manifestation of miracles and transformed the water into wine.
This truly shows that God is more in love with man than having to follow out His own plan. He will lay down his future plans just to create a miracle for us.
He loves us more than anything! For He laid down His own Kingship just for us to have a new life. When man was running out of the true life, He poured out Himself and we were honored we were honored to drink of the new wine that was hidden within that ole earthen vessel – Jesus.
Ask Him for the miracle you need. For He truly listens to what we ask. He desires to help. For He is our best Friend.
