1 Peter 1:13-16 says, Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”
The spirit of this world is in a constant battle to keep people’s minds away from Jesus Christ and on earthly things. Having our minds on earthly things only causes us to conform to our old sinful self, and in so doing, we fall into darkness. Nevertheless, if man turns to knowing Jesus Christ, light and revelation is released to wake the original image within that God intended from the foundations of the earth. Man then wakes up and finds that he does not have to work to be holy. He can be holy now, as Jesus is holy.
