Scripture for the Day

Ephesians 5:1-6 says, Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. 5 For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

I believe one of the reasons Paul mentioned the importance of not agreeing to the tactics of the enemy of foolish talking and coarse jesting is because it is one of the very things the enemy uses to conform us into imitators of the “Accuser of the Brethren” himself. For it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.” When encouragement and love comes from our mouth it transforms us into supernatural children of the God. For encouragement and love is God. Don’t take the enemies’ bait, eat from the tree of life. If Jesus Himself died and spoke love toward us yet while we were in sin, making mistakes, and nailing Him to the cross, then we can also love others even when they are making mistakes as well. This is part of the power of Jesus Christ. Love, as Christ loved you. Lets put the enemy on a Fast!
